For Darkness Shows the Stars

By : Diana Peterfreund

Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, Kai, choosing duty to her family over love. Elliot’s estate is foundering, forcing her to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth-an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliot wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she let him go. – Goodreads

Yeah, sounds good right?

Ha. No.

Rock = stomach. Sink. No, no, no, no, no.

And this is why.

I was so excited about this book, and i adore Jane Austin (this was based off her Persuasion) but when i started it i just…stalled…it was…stalling. So, Kai is cool i guess but he hits on her cousin Olivia, then ignores her, glares at her, and all out is awful! I usually like bad-boys but he is just…terrible. And yes, he is a machine guy and in-human. But she only figures in out, like, the third part of the book when he jumps off a cliff!

Ugh. She’s annoying and neither of them will even look at each other! They, literally, maybe, say about 6 sentances to each other. Maybe. And then she leaves…its weird and annoying and i did not like it.

Maybe it was just to much for me. Or to serious. Either way, the romance was lost to me. And the plot was a bit to twisty and tangled.

*sigh* I was so looking forward to it.

Thanks Kaylee – I love hearing honest reviews! (To tell the truth, “Persuasion” was probably my least favorite of Austen’s books – for the same reasons you list here.) I hope the next book pulls you in and won’t let go!
